is heating up in alameda county. new at noon, allie rasmus joins us live in oakland to explain what the sheriffs want to do with the drones and why the aclu opposes the plan. >> reporter: well, today, the alameda county supervisors were supposed to consider whether to allow the sheriff's office to buy a drone or as the sheriff says, he prefers to call it, an unmanned aerial device. but the item was taken off the supervisors' agenda, just as a couple of civil liberties groups had a press conference expressing concerns. the alameda county sheriff's office unveiled what they might purchase, this device. in the past month, alameda county received around $31,000 in state grant money to buy an unmanned aerial system known to some as a drone. the devices have live hd quality video and infrared capability. and that's raising the concerns of civil liberties groups. >> we have nothing on paper that will bind the sheriff and accountability methods to prevent privacy issues. so we should not be rushing into this. >> it's law enforcement's job to protect people's privacy and to think we would us

>> dan: good evening. i'm dan ashley. news out of oakland. threat of a federal takeover of the oakland police department has ended. the city reached an agreement with civil rights attorneys suing the department and calling for a federal takeover. under this agreement, just approved by a federal judge, oakland will have to hire someone to oversee police reforms. they will pay the salary but that person will report to the judge and have broad powers including firing officers including the chief. it stems from the allegations of four officers who called themselves the riders and were accused a number years ago of handing out vigilanti justice on the streets of oakland. >> developing news, authorities have caught up with software company john mcafee. he was arrested in guatemala accused of entering the country illegally. he created the anti-virus software has been on the run for the past month after officials in belize tried to question him about the death of a neighbor. abc spoke with him in guatemala. >> how i would know? how would i know. >> dan: he says he has requested

a developing story we have three people dead overnight in oakland. first there is a double shooting and that happened on this location on the 8800 block of main street in west oakland. that happened around 1 this morning. there around 230 there is a fatal stabbing of the 550 blocks of walnut street. police are still investigating right now and will traiwill tran is jg us live on the scene. >> the police have been here for about five hours now talking to witnesses and collecting evidence. they're now in the process of removing the 2 million men who were killed here. i spoke with someone who looked out the window and saw at least two rounds fired at the man. before they left they fired more shots at the bodies. at this point we do not have the names of the victims or the motive at this point. i got here shortly before 5:00 in the morning and a handful of police of ulcers were here and now we're seeing more and more officers on the scene. we're on the verge of breaking this case. there's still cameras in the area while it is fresh in seeing that they did talk to any more witnesses. unf

and travelers at s f o. oakland and san jose are both dealing with limited delays. s f o, j. r. stone, kron 4 news. >> the north brae this was pounding rain and howling wind taking out christmas decorations. jeff bush continues our live tv coverage larksburg >> it has been difficult to with this on-again off-again rainfall the drivers on highway 1 0 1 are back up to full speed but the impact can still be seen >> by nightfall the rainfall has stopped but the rain and roche were covered with water. friday's storm left standing water. like here in front of the big 5 sporting goods store. it did not take long for the water to porsche gray skies by nightfall the rain had stopped but the roadway was still covered in water. the wet road could be seen by the headlights of the oncoming traffic. friday's storm left standing water in several places in larkspurlike here, in front of the big five sporting goods store. you can see that the rain was almost to the top of the curb. but, it passing car to wash over the curb and onto the sidewalk. earlier in the day, damage from the friday storm could be seen.
